Meera Thomas is itsmy.wedding's Christian wedding specialist, based in Kottayam at the heart of Kerala's Syrian Christian belt. She covers the full spectrum of South Indian Christian ceremonies — Syrian Christian Nasrani weddings with their Persian-influenced rites, Latin Catholic ceremonies along the Konkan coast, Marthoma and Jacobite liturgies, and the modern church-and-reception format favoured by Malayali NRI couples. Meera grew up attending family weddings across Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam, and has spent the last six years writing about church architecture, liturgical sequence, traditional Mantrakodi and Minnu jewellery, and the practical question of how to translate a Syrian Christian wedding for non-Christian guests.
